The Butterfly Dream is a meditation on the fragile boundary between dream and reality.
Created on a 10×10×4 cm cube-shaped canvas, the piece features bold Ryusui-mon textures,
with a horizontal gradient that shifts from pearlescent beige to bright green, then into gold.
The green was inspired by a quiet garden where butterflies drift above a flowing stream—
a gentle image of life in motion.
The gold and pearlescent beige represent the shimmering ambiguity between dream and waking,
where perception flickers and boundaries soften.
Inspired by the ancient parable of Zhuangzi,
who questioned whether he was a man dreaming of being a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming of being a man,
this work reflects my own uncertainty about what is truly real.
Perhaps this very moment is a dream; perhaps I am someone else, somewhere else.
But in the act of painting—of making something tangible by hand—
I find a way to remain anchored in this world.
This object is a quiet trace of that gesture, suspended within the flow.

《The Butterfly Dream（胡蝶の夢）》は、夢と現実の境界が揺らぐ感覚をかたちにした作品です。
10×10×4cmの小さな立方体のキャンバスに、強い凹凸をもつ流水紋のテクスチャーが刻まれ、
左から右へと、パールベージュ、明るいグリーン、そしてゴールドへと色が移ろいます。
グリーンは、小川の流れる庭を蝶が舞う、静かで瑞々しい風景から着想を得ました。
そしてパールベージュやゴールドは、夢と現実のあいだをたゆたう感覚──
光の加減でその境界があいまいになる、揺らぎの象徴として選ばれた色です。
「自分が蝶の夢を見ているのか、蝶が自分の夢を見ているのか」。
古代中国の思想にあるその問いに、私はいまも心を留めています。
今ここに在ることが現実であるという確かな証拠はなく、
けれど、絵を描くという手の感覚だけは、確かにこの世界に自分を繋ぎとめてくれる。
この作品は、揺らぎの中にあってなお、現実へ手を伸ばそうとする私自身の記録です。
