The wavering water surface reflects light across its undulating textures, revealing fleeting glimpses of other colors in its crevices.

I’ve always been drawn more to the moon than the sun.
This series was inspired by the song Fly Me to the Moon.
For a long time, I misheard the lyric “in other words” as “in other world”—a simple mistake that opened up a completely different realm of imagery.
What emerged was a vision of moonlit landscapes that seemed to belong to another world altogether.

The phrase “other world” also evokes the afterlife.
Marcel Duchamp once said, “It’s always the others who die.”
I’ve always been fascinated by death. No one has ever returned from it, so we can never truly know what lies beyond.
For me, this series functions as a way of contemplating death.

In that other world, perhaps the silence is natural and unbroken, and the moon, not the sun, casts its pale light upon the surface of the water.
The moon dies and is reborn over and over again.
When I look at a full moon, I see a hole torn open in the night sky.
Full moon, waxing, waning, new moon—
The moon itself is like a coin with two sides: reality and illusion, presence and absence.
It is a symbol of recurrence, a body that embodies both death and life.

私は太陽よりも月が気になる。
楽曲「FLY ME TO THE MOON」からのインスピレーション。
シリーズ・タイトルは、歌詞の中の“in other words( 言い換えるとね...)” を
“in other world( 別世界)” に聞き間違えていた事から。
まるで“別世界” のような月明かりの風景を描いた。

“other world” には来世、あの世という意味もある。
｢死ぬのはいつも他人ばかり｣とはマルセル・デュシャンの言葉。
私は死にとても興味がある。死んでから、生きて帰った者はいない。
だから、どうなっているのか分からない。
私にとってこの連作は死を思う機能を持っている。
死の世界は、それが当たり前のように静かで、太陽ではなく月が、水面を照らしているだろう。
月は満ち欠けを繰り返し何度も死に、何度も蘇る。
私は満月を見ると夜空に空いた穴だと思う。
満月、満ち欠け、新月。月はそれ自体がコインの裏表のようで、実像と虚像でできている。
繰り返しの象徴であり、それ自体が死で、生なのである。
